COVID-19 Update from our CEO
Dear Members, supporters and friends of The Oxygen Works,
These have been difficult and testing times for everyone and I do not underestimate that for you, our members, our closure has impacted you most of all.
Thank you to those of you who took part in our online survey, your thoughts, views and opinions have been hugely valuable in allowing us to gain an understanding into the areas that have impacted you most.
We have heard from many of you by email and across our social media, I have even had the opportunity to speak to many of you on the phone. Many of you have expressed concerns over the ability of our centre to get operational again, as it is no secret that we do not have huge cash reserves. However, you will see from the attached Route Map that we are moving very close to reopening our doors and providing services again. We have worked hard to stabalise the charity while we have been closed; support from members through fundraisers and regular donation has been invaluable and overwhelming, We have implemented cost saving measures and accessed grant funding to secure the finances we need to,not only reopen, but diversify and evolve services to provide increasing support for the long term future. We have utilised the Government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme which has involved consulting with our team and putting them on 'furlough'. Unfortunately this has meant that the team have not been able to undertake any work on behalf of the organisation whilst furloughed. However, furlough will become flexible from 1st July which will see greater opportunity for our staff to help restart the centre as we approach reopening.
Our Route Map to reopening lays out the ways in which we see services recommencing. It is clear that our centre will be a different place in terms of how people access and use the spaces, however by taking a phased approach to reopening it ensures we can start to grow our operations in a manageable way whilst ensuring all the new requirements and restrictions to safeguard against Coronavirus are imbedded within the organisation. We are not ready to announce our reopening date just yet, however we are getting very close and will look forward to giving you an update in the very near future about when exactly this will be. I would like to thank you for your patience as we work towards upholding the safety of everyone associated with The Oxygen Works.
Together we will ensure that The Oxygen Works continues to breathe life and provide support to people living across the Scottish Highlands.
Please stay safe, stay positive and follow the Government guidelines.
See you all soon!
